I just got a new DVD burner and I'm trying to test it out by burning movies. I've used this guide from the site:
http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd9_to_dvdr_with_dvd_shr...
The dvds are compressed and put on my hdd. Then when I try to burn them I get "illegal disc" errors and stuff like that. I tried to burn directly from DVD Shrink after it finished copying to my hdd. But whether I try to burn it with nero later, or try to burn it right after the files are copied, I still get an error. I've gone through about 5 dvd-r's already! Please help me! I have a Sony DVD RW DW-D26A drive. Here's the exact log from the latest error I got. This occured when trying to write with DVD Shrink as soon as the files were copied to my hdd. By the way, I can write dvds with just data fine. Here's the error log:

Hi there,
Quote: Recorder: <SONY DVD RW DW-D26A> Version: JYS2 - HA 0 TA 0 - 6.6.0.15
Adapter driver: <nvatabus> HA 0
Drive buffer : 2048kB
Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ?
=== Scsi-Device-Map ===
CdRomPeripheral : SONY DVD RW DW-D26A nvatabus Port 0 ID 0 DMA: Off
DiskPeripheral : WDC WD1600JD-00HBC0 nvatabus Port 2 ID 0 DMA: Off
CdRomPeripheral : Generic DVD-ROM 1.0 d347prt Port 3 ID 0 DMA: Off
He will not be able to enable DMA like we all do, since he's using nVidia IDE drivers, see the Adapter driver: <nvatabus> HA 0 above !
I pretty sure this is nVidia IDE Drivers... (Anyone ?)
It was written in an other message from Nero Tech Support, Nero and nVidia drivers don't cooperate.
I think step one would be to remove the nVidia drivers, and stick with the Windows XP atapi drivers.
Then he will be able to set DMA like we all do, in the Device Manager.

Cougar, you are correct. The DMA option is different for me. I tried to uninstall everything under the IDE ATA/ATAPI controller list. When I restart, it still reinstalls the nVidia drivers. Here's a screen shot of my screen. It's kind of hard to see.
So what i did was deselect the box that says "Let BIOS select transfer mode" and I was able to select "Ultra DMA 4 - Ultra66" from a list. Will this solve the problem? If not, how can I uninstall it so that it doesn't reinstall nvidia drivers after reboot? I right clicked and selected uninstall but nvidia wont die! I just want to make sure before I make another coaster for the living room...

Hi again,
I have never seen nor used those drivers.
Will it solve the problem ? I don't know.
All I know is that Nero Tech Support mentionned in some other message in the past that Nero and nVidia drivers don't cooperate.
Visit the Nero website, maybe they have things for you to try/do.
Good luck, sorry I can't be more of help !
