Ok here's the deal I have the 40 GB PS2 hdd which I no longer use in my ps2 I want to know if there is a simple way to format it and just use it for storage on my xp machine... there are not jumper settings on the hdd itself any help would be great thanks!!!

i don't think so because the hdd is formated for the ps2 and your machine won't recognize the ps2 format along with the fact that there are no jumper settings.

Yes I have the HDD Utility disk that came with the computer... When I look in the device manager the ps2 hdd is showing up but not in the my computer setup... so I have no ideas I know it can be done because my friend did the same thing I tried and it worked for him I will put my system stats down to help out...

if you're using windows xp:
plug the hdd into the pc. then turn on pc. (obviously)
right-click 'my computer' then click 'manage'
near the bottom of the list on the left you should click 'disk management'
after that you should see a list of the hdds installed into the pc.
you SHOULD see the ps2 hdd.
you should right click on the white-space of the hdd and delete partition or remove partition until it says unallocated.
then format for pc.
after XXX amount of minutes your hdd should be formatted for pc.

ALSO IF YOUR PUTING IT ON YOUR PC CAN YOU GIVE ME YOUR UTILTY DISC BACUASE I BOUGHT A HDD FROM EBAY BUT IT DIDNT COME WITH THE UTILITY DISC SO I CANT PUT IT ON PS2

And the utilty disc i was talking about was the one that came with the pS2 HDD do you have this also if you cant get it to work and it is the OFFICAL PS2 hdd I will but/trade for it.
