Hello I have a computer and i am paranoided about hackers and viruses almost to paronoid. On my system I have Norton Antivirus, Norton Firewall, Ad aware se, spybot search and destroy, and window washer. With all the protection though recently i had a "trojan downloader File" in my "internet recent download folder" Norton notified me and said it was there, but also said access was retricted to the file. So i pulled up the folder, scanned it with nortan, nortan said it was there and quanteined it. a question i have with the firewall is why didn't it prevent that from happening. also with the programs i have on my computer now is it safe as far as security wise goes, Am i using to much software , the rong software or not enough software. Which anti virus and firewall are really good, also is my software good sofftware for eliminating spyware?

I think I would go with AVG 7 Free Edition instead of Norton. The resident shield doesn't bog down your system as much as the Norton one.

Firewalls keep people from connecting to arbitrary ports on your system, but they don't prevent scumware from coming in through the browser. You
have to periodically scan your system with a bunch of tools to know what's on it. Here's a few more links to freeware:

ok so basicly get rid of nortan antivirus and install avg antivirus, but kepp windows firewall and download the othe links you listed?
