I have a question that I haven't been able to get an answer. I have a modchip now installed in my ps2, the modbo, not the best but it works. I want to be able to save my backup games in a HDD and load them from it with HD advance 2.0 or whichever is best. Do I need to use the Slide card to save the backups in the HDD? will the modchip help me use a backup of the HD Advance?
Please help...From the answer I get I will b posting more concerning this issue...
Thanks
Alemonty

If your modchip can boot backups without a problem then you will be able to install backups on to the hdd without using a slidtool, your modchip should be able to boot a backup of hdadvance. You can also use a windows application called WinHIP that allows you to transfer images from you PC hdd to your Ps2 hdd, you have to connect the Ps2 as a "slave" in order to use WinHIP.

ok..thanks for the help...So let´s say I save the images of the games from the computer into the HDD...the advantage of having he modchip is that I could have a backup of the HD advance to boot the games from the HDD...is that correct? and if so there will be no problem extracting the image of the backup game into the pc and then into the HDD to boot them?
Where can I find this WinHIP application??

Yes that is correct, all you have to do is copy the games onto your PC using DVD Decrypter and transfer to the Ps2 hdd then boot the backup of hda and your all set, some modchips are able to boot hdd directly but hda should be OK, is it the older ps2 you have?
Edit: you can find WinHIP at www.ps2source.net

Which modchip boots the hdd?
There is something I´m not sure I got....Say I playing A game from the HDD, and I want to end the game and play another from the HDD...do I need to reset the consoles and load the hda again?...or can just exit the game with a button without touching the console?, like reseting from the game
I think it will be no problem since I keep the hda always in the ps2 drive...or doesn't?
Excuse all the questioning...it's just I want to be sure and in this forums people have always helped me.
Thanks again

Am not sure what modchips can boot a hdd, if you do a search you may find something. I use a exploit and every time i want to play a different game i have to reset the console and boot the hdl up again.

ok..I get it...but i don't need an exploit to load the HDA when I reset the console...I can just leave the HDA in the console all the time...and when I reset it the HDA will load...correct??

DVD9 games and hdadvance\hdloader are a no go they won't work, as far as i know there is no 3.0 version, the only way to get games like Gow & GT4 to work on a hdd is using a patched version of hdloader and\or a exploit.

Dont waste your money on HDA.
You can download HDL 0.7c (the original) for free. Or you can use a HDL exploit which you put on your memory card and you will never need to have the HDL disc in the tray to play games off your HDD. PS2HD.com has all the info.
And p4_tt your wrong in one sense. The new HDL 0.7c enables the transfers of DVD9 (so does HDA 3.0 but thats a copy of HDL 0.7c with a new skin).

I said that HdAdavance and Hdloader as in the retail versions DONT work with DVD9 games(not hda3 as i never knew it was out), i never mentioned HDL 0.7c so am not really wrong well only about hda3 :)
To be honest the only method that i knew of was the the dual layer patched hdl by crazy c which is more a less a dvd9 version of hdloader and that does them exact same thing does it not?

You can get it at the site below, it's called HDLoader but it says it has all the features of 0.7c so it should be fine. Exploits are incredibly easy after you get the hang of it, you can download a program called Independence Compiler it will do pretty much everything you want and is very very easy to use, you can find it along at http://console.iscentral.net

I've got the exaxt same scenario as alemonty, except my modchip wouldn't actually play DVD-R backups in the first place - only CD-R. Can I use HDLoader to load DVD-R backups in this case?

thanks for the links p4_tt. I have the modchip modbo installed in my v7 ps2...I've heard in the forums that this modchip can have some problems with upgrades and addons...since it is a matrix clone. Will it be a problem with the exploit or the HDL with this modchip??
