On Daemon Tools I am trying to mount an image file for the game Football Manager 2005 so that I can run it without my CD. My laptop has a combined dvd-rw (F:) and dvd (G:) drive. When I insert my FM 2005 disc it is automatically read by the F: drive. As I need to emulate my F: drive, it is not working (Daemon tools does not emulate writable devices). In the Daemon Tools FAQs it says emulating a writable drive would be senseless and something that no-one would ever need to do. I don't understand, because it appears I do need to. Is there a way round this, so that I can run FM 2005 v5.0.5 without the disc? Perhaps I am just stupidly doing something wrong. Maybe there is a way I could make it so that my FM 2005 disc is read by my G: drive instead -it will allow me to emulate that drive. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me.

Hi there,

One thing I have noticed with Daemon Tools, is if you are going to run software that needs the media, I always install from that virtual drive.

My virtual drive is Z:\ I never install the software from my drive F:\ I always mount the image on Z:\ and install from there, because the next time the software is loaded, it will look in Z:\ and that works great.

Check the game directory for any .INI files, and/or the registry.
There must be a place where it says Installation from F:\ and you can probably change it to your Z:\ or whatever drive letter you use !
