Black & White Region free DVD's

Hi, recently my PS2 has stopped playing my Region free DVD's in colour. They only play in Black & white now. They worked perfectly before this on the same PS2. My region 2 DVD's are still full colour. This happen to anyone else?

Have you changed ur hardware set up in anyway? The dvds that are black and white, did they play in colour before? or is it just that ur new region free dvds are comeing out black and white?

The reason why its black and white is because they r set up to play on a 60hz tv. and im guessin ur tv is a 50hz.

this is the only reason why i know of that the picture is black and white

Leesh, Im still playing the same DVD's as I was before. They played perfectly in colour before. I havent changed the hardware config at all. I recently moved house so I just disconnected the leads but they're all back to where they were! My region 2 DVD's are fine. Could my scart lead be damaged maybe??

Recheck your connections , definitely sounds like a loose or bad connection. I had the same with my Hi-Def TV..

Maldini, have you managed to solve this problem? The same thing has started to happen to us recently. And after playing a disc on the playstation and then in the DVD player, it still came up in black and white, but when played on a laptop computer, it came up in colour. Any assistance would be gratefully appreciated.

Rachlen, I did sort my problem out. Silly me in fairness! MY TV is NTSC compatible but for some reason I had the AV channel set to PAL. So after buying a new SCART lead and checking everything a million times I finally twigged that I only had to change the channel setting to NTSC.. yes you can imagine my embarresment!! :-) So maybe youre AV channel is also set to a different setting. If all leads and connections are ok then it could be it! Hope it helps!
