I bought BF2 a couple days ago and after installing the stupid thing I try to run the game and it doesn't work. It starts out like it's going to load (the screen goes back and look slike the game is going to load up) but then right away i am sent back to the desktop. I've heard of things like this happening with copies of games but these are the original disks! Anyone else having this problem? Is it because I have software installed such as Nero, Blindwrite, Alcohol 120%, etc?
I do have a Geforce 4 Ti 4600 though. When I read the requirements on the BF2 box more closely it said that an ATI radeon 8500 or higher, or a geforce fx 5700 or higher was REQUIRED to play the game. I'm guessing my card is just too old to play this game. If that's the case I will just buy a new card. I'm looking to upgrade to a Radeon 9800 Pro for the time being anyway.

thats not the case, the requirements are for you to know so you can have a great game expeirience and not alot of lagg.
Yeah but I heard that there is some kind of pixel shading or some crap on those higher video cards and I was wondering if mine was too old. I downloaded a pixel shader driver or something from gamecopyworld and it seemed like it was doing something when I tried to start the game, but then it kicked me back to the desktop again and gave me an error message that I forgot what it was now. I meet the minimum requirements excet for the video cards it says on the box so I don't know
hey showman, i've experienced that myself. im 99.9% sure that u need a new video card man. that also happened to me when i had a 64 mb on board card and i tried to play rome total war. just like u said, when it starts to load, it goes back to the desktop. thats wat happened to mine, so i just ordered a 6800 gt from newegg and now it works fine.
well i just got an ati radeon 9800 pro the other day. Havent been able to try the game out yet but I will soon. The only game I play these days is World of Warcraft so I never have time for anything else (I work a lot also).
I miss the old first person shooter days. Halo was a lot of fun. Ravenshield was amazing. Now I can play them the way they were supposed to be played :)
