Ok, I am using DVD2AVI fo rthe first time, with no luck! I have ripped the VOB files with SmartRipper and then open the one I need in DVD2AVI. When I select 'SAve AVI', it goes through the steps (file name and Video Compression), so I fill these out then click OK. However, everytime it creates an AVI file of 0KB. The process takes less than 1 second. What the heck am I doing wrong?

Note: I have ripped the VOB files with both DVD Decrypter and SmartRipper, and I have selected every possible Video Compression setting in DVD2AVI.

The audio I want to get is from the menus only, this is possible right?

Also, I have verified that I have the right VOB file as I can play it, with sound, in PowerDVD.

Help me please....

Better try DVD decrypter and tick the "forced film" option after loading vob files in DVD2AVI. On the Audio option tick demux all audio option "Auto". That mite help you.

Enjoy ur DVD ripping!!

Adios

Still not working. Question, when I preview a scene (VOB ) in DVD2AVI should I hear the audio? All I get is the video.

Anything else that might help?

Now if you could go ahead and tell the rest of us what you did to fix the problem, that would be nice! Especially since all I get out of DVD2AVI is wav/d2v files :|

Tech1,

All I was looking for is the .wav file. I don't know what your trying to get out of it, but go ahead and post here and some of us can look into it for you. Again, all I cared about was stripping off a specific part of the audio and I figured that one out. Let me know if this is what you want to know.

I _think_ I have everything working just right... I still can't get Heat under the 700mb limit, but I'm happy with 1.6gb (started at 10.5gb). Is it the way I'm encoding? Am I missing something with IFOEdit? No idea. It just might be the simple fact that it's a 3 hour movie and it doesn't get any smaller. :)

Hi...u can fit a DVD9 to a DVD5 movie very easily. U need DVD decrypter,DVD2AVI,Tmpeg ,IFOedit program. Make a D2v file then Make a M2V file by TMPEG..it takes 5 to 6 hours. Then Author a new dvd by using IFOedit program and dont forget to use ur Ripped AC3 audio u get from DVD2 Avi program. :D

Enjoy ripping!

I am getting the problem described in the top of this thread- DVD2AVI works for 1 second and only creates 0MB files. Seems like the fix for this wasn't really outlined yet. What can I do to get over this problem?

Why are you all using DVD2AVI to change .VOB to DivX/XViD or anything?!?!
DVD2AVI produces horrible avi's.
(if u havent tried the pro stuff, dont say i've done it and it looks fine)
You should use NanDUB or VirtualDUB, and make it 2 passes. if u want even more, makes it better. You should use DVD2AVI to extract the Audio from the .VOB's and then copy it directly into the avi u encode with nandub.

Yah, the reason I use DVD2AVI is to pull the audio off a specific audio portion of the video, mainly the menu sounds. So far so good on what I'm using it for, however I may check out NanDUB or VirtualDUB.

Hi I'm having a similar problem to what CptCrash had. The deal is when I try to save in DVD2AVI it takes like 30 sec and all the usualble stuff I get is the beginning and ending credits of the video. It's only a 1/2 hr section I'm trying to copy so the file size souldn't be that big I've tryed eveything and I have no Idea how to go about fixing the problem. Any suggestions?
