Really new to this. Up to this point all i've done is burn movies to dvd's. I have a avi in mpeg 4 format according to avicodec. What steps and software do I need to put this mepeg 4 avi movie onto a blank dvd?

1) Make sure you have all the needed codecs for the conversion. If not, download and install K-Lite codec Pack (full or mega version):

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm

2) Use DivXtoDVD (older version is free) or other tools to convert the AVI into dvd compliant format

3) Burn with Nero or your favorite burning program.

Happy DVD burning!

It converted the movie, and I burned it using dvd shrink. Problems I encountered:

1) The picture was slightly larger than the tv screen, words were going off the screen.
2) When the movie started the sound and animation were fine, as the movie went on the sound got farther and farther ahead of the animation.

The movie I'm working with is beavis and butthead do america. I used the divxtodvd old version with dvd shrink to burn. I left the aspect and standard options to automatic in divxtodvd. Any ideas what i'm doing wrong?

Try will the new version of DivXtoDVD (1.99.12) and see what your outcome is. (Available in download section on this site.) I would be curious to se if new version gives you same problem, or how about other converters--- or it could be original files, ?
