First of all, i read through most if not all of the posts regarding somewhat close to my problem, and im yet to find a plausable solution/answer.

I've got one of those old Ps2:s with a DMS3 chip that works excellent.

So the other day i got hold of a hd (Quantum, 30GB, old crap) and got a bay for Ethernet/HD, and after a couple of hours of reading here, i got the games to work with the hd (copied and playable, legitimate games only btw, as i own the originals).

Now.... bear with me, as im a dumb swede and not good at either english or the PS2... ;)

So i got the games to the hd at will, for the copy-process, i use a cd with the mc-exploit BOOT.ELF, in this case BOOT.ELF is hdld_svr.elf.

Now to my problem:

I see loads of juicy .ELF's that i want to use, but im lost on where and how to execute them.

I know how and use the ftp-service provided by ExecFTP, so thats not a problem.

But, as most users here are qualified and not a dumbass as myself, im getting lost pretty quickly.

So thus far i solved how to transfer games through Ethernet from PC > PS2, but only through a "special" disc.

Is there a way to get the hdloader/advance exectuable through the Mc/HD without the use of a bootdisc ?

/Prof

Edit: Im truly sorry, but a noob is a nqqb.

Some modchips can boot directly from the hdd but i take it your modchip can't, the other way is using a Ps1 game to boot the elfs from your MC, as far as i know that's the only other way if your chip can't boot the hdd. If you want more info on the Ps1 method search the forums our check the link in my sig.

ps

your English seems pretty good :)

The Quantum works fine for keeping my games ,and thats about it :) .

But when i try to excecute any of the utils available for hd-management, the screen goes blank.

So i read a thing about you need to have a hd that (atleast) needs to support S.M.A.R.T commands, thats where the old trusty Quantum fails me, haha.

Well, im going to try a 200GB (Hitachi) today, just to make sure :)

Tried the 200GB, only presented about a 3:d of the size...hmm.

So i recomplied the 7c HDloader with a few carefully made changes (.ELF) to make a guaranteed access to 48 >.

Works fine.
