i am encoded an avi-xvid (640x352 or 1.82:1, 25 fps) file to mpeg2 format with CCE. To do so I used the frame server of virtualdub and added a with the resize filter small borders (change of format to 640x360 or 16:9).

in CCE i selected the frame server and set the aspect ratio to 16:9.

when finished encoding i checked the encoded file with PowerDVD. when i compare the original avi with the re-encoded file the aspect-ratio seems fine

then I move on to dvd-lab pro ... I add the movie (it mentions 720x576 and 16:9) ... add audio, subs and menu and compile

when finished compiling i check the compiled files with powerdvd and the now the movie is stretched, when I check on my 16:9 tv it's also stretched ...

when i author in tmpgenc-dvd-author it doesn't get stretched ... but i don't want to work with tmpgenc (it lacks many of the options available in dvd-lab) ... i guess i must be doing something wrong in dvd-lab but i don't know what

can anyone help me out???

Select Project, properties, and make it a 16:9 project.
Make sure you have "Letterbox" enabled for playback on a 4:3 TV, and it should come out right.

When I go to priject properties the only thing where I can select 4/3 or 16/9 is "Menu/slideshow aspect". Changing this value only changes the menu items not the aspect ratio of the movies ... or is there some other place where I can set the aspect ratio of the movie to 16/9?

If you encoded the movie to 16:9, then DVDLab would recognize it as such.
640x360 is nowhere near any kind of DVD aspect.
