This is a guide for the people who want to know how to play backups without any mod chip or any other expensive hardware. You will need tape, a small philips screwdriver, and a original ps or ps2 disc. I have pics, so if you need any additional info pm me. OK, this works by bypassing the security on a ps disc to do this all you have to do is put an original disc and when the ps logo comes up you switch it for the backup. the problem with this is when you open the disc tray the ps knows you opened the tray and won't load your backup. In order to get past this all you have you have to do is make it so the ps doesn't know that the tray is open. There are two swtches that tell the ps2 that the tray is open, the first you can see without opening the ps2, it is located right behind the power button. The second is under the first hinge(left to right) that holds the tray open and shut, I had to open it to find it and tape it down. Once you have these these taped down there is a buffer type deal that you should either unconnect the sping and tape it down or you can just push it manually when you need to switch the disc, I left the power button and this buffer undone so I could still make my ps2 know when its open.
