did you get hacked firmware for this? If you did you need the new burner's eeprom file, then patch it before flashing. Then get the new burner's firmware and patch that before flashing.

Check out http://club.cdfreaks.com for more info.

NeroInfoTool will give you the latest firmware on your drive on the drive tab. If it's still the same it didn't take.
Follow squizzle's advice.

It depends on the disc. Some support higher burning speeds than the specified speed. Example: TY's 8x can be burned up to 12x.
Faster burn speeds increase the error ratio - so burning at max can produce coasters/ playback problems.
My rule of thumb is 1/2 of what my burner supports as long the media supports that speed. Examples - 16x burner with 8x disc - I burn at 8x, if using a 4x I burn at 4x.
What blank discs are you using?

@ binkie7

>> thanks for the qick resoponse :)
usually i use any DVD+R since i have burning down i usually don't have a problem. but they are usually

120min/4.7GB 1-4x SPEED/VITESSE > they are usually any brand
so what i'm getting out of your earlier post is that it depend on the actually dvd that i'm using not my Burner ?

thanks

I'm quessing you have a blank disc in the drive when you posted the drive info. If so it's telling you the speeds this disc can be written to. The disc does not support a higher writing speed - if it did Nero would show that. You can also find the supported write speeds and manufacturer id on the disc tab.
If I don't have a blank disc inserted in the drive I'm looking up Nero just defaults to the cd read and write speeds.
You drive supports writing at 8x +R so if you want to burn at max you'll need either 8x discs or say 4x (TY or verbatim) that support higher burn speeds. If you want to burn at max (I don't recommend) use good quality media only - Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. Actually you should always use quality media - those iffy or off brands will cause you problems.
The burn speed depends on what your disc and burner support.
It also looks like the firmware up date took. This update was to match more media - very generic - they usually are.
I hope this helps.

I got a tool from club.cdfreaks.com called omnipatcher that lets you customize LiteOn burners. When I did this I found that just because your burner says it can burn +R discs at 8x, that's not necessarily all +R discs. Omnipatcher let me select different speeds for different discs.
