I keep wanting to make backup dvd's of my movies(I have kids...enough said of why) but it refuses to and all it reads is copy right protected. This is a stand alone unit and I have spent numerous hours on line looking for any software that would correct this for me. Any help or direction I can be turned to would be greatly aprechiated.

To my knowledge there isn't software for stand alone recorders. One way to do it will require another dvd player and an in line box or device to remove the copy prtection in the video line to the stand alone recorder. Here is one link to the type box required.

Like I said its suppose to work good but not from personal experience. Just use a cheap player for the original--run its video out to BIG RED--BIG RED to the video input of the recorder and it should do the job. The audio is a straight out from player to in on recorder. You can make a VHS tape of the dvd the same way. You get excellent quality on the tape. Good luck.
