You can cut scenes off the dvd keeping everything else (menus, extras, etc) with DvdReMake easily. You simply find the end of needed scene in the preview. Right-click in preview and select "split here". Then scroll back to the start of the offending scene and right-click and "hide from here". It is gone and DVD will work just like it was before (just without that scene).

With Shrink and Nero you can 'cut' out what you don't want by making it a still pic. I usually do this with the extras. Under the 'extras' click on a title then click on disable. You also have the option of previewing it to make sure it's the one you want.
If you don't want still pics here's a link for dvdremake:
http://www.filepedia.com/search/results.cfm Another popular one here is DVD RB and CCE. Here's a link for info:

if you are backing up a dvd, use DVD Decrypter to decrypt, then use DVD Shrink to edit out what you want, then compress it, re-author it, then use your Nero to copy, shink will use Nero (as long as you select it to) and btw, is Nero recode all you have or the full version? you can pm me for more info, but i am sure you will get lots of feed back in here alone
hth.

The best software I have found and use regularly to remove previews, unwanted extras, adverts, and trailers is DVDRemake as stated by dimad (who btw is the developer of the ptoggy). It is not free but completely removes the unwanted parts instead of replacing them with a still picture therefore you don't have to set through the still picture, fast forward through them or advance chapter. Well done dimad.

Hi Rotary,
Yeah it's an awsome program. I use it on almost every backup to remove previews, adverts, trailers, and any other extras I don't want keeping a functional menu, the movie of course, and any extras I want to keep. No annoying still pictures. You can also make parts of the menu inactive eg. if you removed all audio tracks except english then you can make language selection in the menu inactive. You can even remove any menus in languages that you don't want. Really slims and trims your video folder for less compression. Well worth the money.

O K I am back, I checked out the sites the first one makes things really simple {how I like it] The DVD has 16 tracks and in between tracks is a lot of rubbish. I got to the stage where I removed first lot of rubbish and went through all 16 tracks but obviously did something wrong as I only got the ending. After you select start, then go to end of scene and select end...then ok what next {for remaining 15 songs}? I am slowly getting there, thanks for your patience.

In brief, non Pro version has everything to reduce the size of the disk for higher quality backup (plus merge two full DVDs tool). Absolutely no knowledge of DVD structure and programing is needed to use it.
Pro version is for real editing:
Quote: In addition to the DvdReMake capabilities DvdReMake Pro provides all the functionality needed to edit DVDs:
- Put multiple DVDs together preserving original menus;
- Replace menu background with still;
- Move and insert new chapters on an existing dvd;
- Edit VM commands (all commands and valid combinations are supported);
- Edit and create new TitleSets, Titles, Chapters, ProgramChains, Programs;
- Delete TitleSets, Titles, Chapters, ProgramChains, Programs;
- Move TitleSets, ProgramChains, commands within the disk or between different DVDs;
- Find DVD navigation errors;
- Reorder menu buttons;
- Easily follow DVD navigation using "Goto Destination" and History pane;
- Change properties of the video, audio and subpicture tracks;
- Modify buttons and color schemes in either still or motion menus;
- Easily change highlights colors;
- etc
