My laser was slowly dying so I decided to go ahead and buy a new one. I got a new one and it plays my regular games fine. Since I got new laser my swap magic dvd disc has stoped working. It gives the famous "Disc Read Error". However if I manually set the laser half way on the tracks it will read the swap magic disc but after it loads it will not boot the back up game.

I am getting stumped now because I have adjusted the laser height and even messed with voltage a little but not to much. Do burned games and swap magic disc require more voltage to read?

Any help would be great.

No they dont need a different voltage. The lasers come pre set. Ive done (1000s) of lasers & never had 2 adjust 1(i do adjust the white disc 4 laser height). If SwapMagic has stopped working it is because it is probably scratched. I have had this prob many times. It is due 2 the fact that SMD is a pressed disc on top of another. That is why when u took the laser (manually) past the join point on the face of the DVD it read. Easy fix return the SMD for an exchange. THey have a gaurantee. Tell em it has never worked since u bought it.

Just a thought r u getting sucked in by the biggest SMD drawback. I.E. SMD has 2 discs
1: is 4 PS2 CDs i.e. The face of the original game is blue
2: is 4 PS2 DVDs i.e. the face of the original game is silver
If U use the CD disc with A DVD or vise versa, it will do just what u said.

I am using the DVD SMD, silver. What I do not understand is why would the SMD all of a sudden stop working because it worked with the old laser before I changed the laser out.

My old laser worked but not to great so I changed it before it stoped reading completely.

Well if I do get new SMD where do I go to exchange them I have had mine for about 2 years and I do not remember were I got them.

Thanks for your help.
