hey im totally new to this- first thread... uhh do i need some questions answered please: first; how do i figure out the version of my ps2? second; which is better? mod chip or swap magic? third: which version(s) should i get? please help me

if you have slimline or the older chunkier ps2 you cannot go wrong with swapmagic version 3.6, use only decent quality dvd-r's and DVD Decrypter to back up. hope this helps.

To find out what version PS2 you have try this link from mod-chip.com: http://www.mod-chip.com/en/ps2version.htm (good place to get info on chips too)! Swap magic discs are fine but you made need to rebuild quite a few games (i.e. GT4, God of War, Mercenaries, Fantastic Four...). However, for a few extra $$ you're better off getting a mod chip such as the DMS4 or Matrix Infinity. With these chips you don't have to rebuild any games what so ever.

if you are buying one, just buy a premodded system
then you don't have anything to worry about
it will play all your back ups right out of the box
Go for a DMS4, DMS Lite, Or Matrix Infinity

yes you will pay more than a regular system but if
you do the math it is cheaper than buying them then
sending it out to be modded.
