Has anyone ever encountered file corruption with this program? I got everything done with the other programs: created the VOB's with DVD Decrypter; edited the content with IFOedit; created the d2v and wav files with DVD2AVI; and was testing TMPGEnc to see how long it was going to take (approx. 6hrs). It was still early. Had some stuff to do so I killed the process to finish up some other things. Later, when it was bedtime, I went to restart with TMGPEnc and it said it couldn't open the file! >:| I didn't want to redo everything I had done; so I tried everything, reinstalling, etc. etc. nothing worked. It simply wouldn't read the file. So I just started over. I'm almost at the point where I can put the wav and d2v files back together with it, but I fear that I'm going to get the same result. Any ideas?

Whoa...

TMPGEnc didn't freak out like I thought it would after making the new d2v/wav files, BUT it hasn't got through the opening scenes/credits and it's ALREADY over 350mb and saying it's going to take 32hrs to finish! WTH did I do wrong?!

...now that I'm done freakin out ;-)

TMPGEnc is grinding along just fine. It's been running for about 40 min; has a little less than 10 hours to go and the files size is only 105mb. Seems good, but is it common for avi to be THAT MUCH larger than mpg? I dunno.. maybe I had a weird setting or something... eh, I'm new! :-D

Anywayz, I think all is ok. We'll see in the morning. I'll give a full status report when it's all done.

The process went well, I suppose. The quality is outstanding, the audio seems like it synced ok, but my only complaint is that the file is about 1.72Gb. I was hoping for smaller. Maybe there's something I missed with IFOEdit that needs to be taken out? Don't know. Something to look into I assume. :-)

I`m stumped by IFO EDIT. Don`t suppose I could get you to walk me though the steps you took. You`ve obviously gotten though it. I`ve read these forums until I`m crosseyed. I want to Copy a DVD. I used DVD Decryrypter to rip it went straight to DVD2AVI and then was going to go to TMPGe. use DVD2one if it was to large for one 4.7GB and burn it. then I read about IFOedit. I`ve converted several VCD`s so I`m not a rookie but IFOedit has me stumped. will you or someone out there help me understand all this mess.

Np... Some people may disagree with how I do it, but this is how I got mine done. I am also _VERY_ new to this, but I have managed to get my movies ripped down to mpg's that are roughly 1.5gb or less. Anyway...

After I ripped the DVD with DVD Decrypter, I did the following:

1. Open IFOEdit
2. Click: Open (lower left-hand corner)
3. Choose the .ifo to open (I used VTS_01_0.IFO)
4. Click: Menu Extras (down low, in the middle)
5. In the menu that pops up, there's alot of things grey'd out, but the stuff that isn't, it's all checked except one: 'Remove IIvu/Angle point' - I also set the destination dir (I keep my rips seperate from the new just to avoid confusion)

6. Click 'Ok'

At this point mine has started crashing so I can't for sure tell you what comes next, but you should get a box that has the menu options in it. Those that you want to keep, leave selected. Those you don't, uncheck them and select 'Strip it'. When that's done, go on to step 7.

7. Click 'VOB Extras'
8. On mine, the following fields are selected by default:
- Strip Streams
- Strip Vob id's
- Correct Vob-Unit (Navigation Pack) pointers in VOB-files
- Correct original IFO files
- Create new IFO files (movie only)
- Remove P-UOps
- Remove Macrovision
- Adjust Vob-Unit pointers
- Adjust Audio/Subp point
9. I set the dir, VOB size (1gb), and add 'Rebuild PTS'
10. Click 'Ok' and a window opens with _usually_ the english video and 5.1 audio already checked
- Audio 1: English (Dolby AC-3 6ch 48Kbps DRC) (ID: {may vary})
- SubPicture 1: English (2-bit rle) (ID: {may vary})
I think this is the base video/audio for the dvd. I usually go with the default because the prog knows me than me :)

11. Correct IFO tables is checked, click 'Strip it'

The VOB Extras box will close and IFOEdit will start to rebuild your MOVIE.IFO and MOVIE.VOB files with only the previously selected options (the name of the file will vary according to your needs).

After that's done, I then go into DVD2AVI to create the wav and d2v files and remerge them with TMPGEnc. That's about all I know. Like I said, I'm new... really new to this, but what I've done so far, works. Only thing I'm having trouble with is getting the file sizes down below 700mb. They're close, but not close enough.

Hope this helps.

If any of you guru's see a flaw, please let me know because I would really like to get the files size down. Maybe I'm missing a step? Who knows.

thanks for your help, I`ll try it as soon as I get the time. as far as getting your movie smaller, your must be making VCD`s or SVCD`s. Have you tried DVD2one. it will hwlp some, but to get under 700mbs for a dvd is asking alot.

maybe your answer is to convert your format to DIVx and burn on VCD. that will get you under700mbs on most single layer movies. just a thought.

yep.. that's exactly what I'm looking for, but I can't seem to find the option... I did, however find something I might be able to use. I don't want these movies to play in a stand alone player. I want them for archive purposes. Since I tend to loose things, keeping track of one cd is easier that trying to keep track of 2 ;)
