ok look here's the situation. I wanna swap my boxes hdd to a 40gb maxtor. in doing this, there's many way's and methods i read. my box is *softmodded* and running the latest edition of evox. so, most hdd swaps, you'll need a chip, to make it easier, correct? we'll i found a tutorial on how to load a new hdd thru pc. i followed this method > http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/no-modchip-hdd-swap.php < ok now i did everything in the tutorial, fine and ddandy, BUT, at the end, where it says go back into HDD_Driver and load the xbox hdd image i extracted to the new hdd, it says after the hdd has been detected, to wait for the "invalid filesize error" well there was no error so i loaded, and went downstairs, wen i came back (i heard the computer restart itself) my OS was deleted and i had to reinstall my XP. Now, with all this happening, guess what got deleted, the BIN image of my hdd i extracted with HDD_Driver. Here's the good thing though, i backed up the C and E portion to my hdd and i am able to transfer the whole E and C drives to the computer with the xbox drive set as primary master, and my os as secondary, follow me? ok so there's tons of methods i tried. i tried to just transfer the C and E back to the drive and then locking it back up and putting it in the box, doesnt work, error 13. I go into hex workshop, cuz ur supposed to in the tutorial, but i delete certain parts, then wen i restart my computer for HDD_Driver to detect, the xbx hdd is gon and i have to re-start the OS installtion to CREATE A PARTION or watever. that's the only way i can access my xbx hdd and put the files on there. by creating a 39. sumthin partion cuz if i don't do that, windows wont allow me to put things on the drive. look basically, i know theres a way to get my xbx back up cuz i still have the E and C drive on my OS but the ways im doing it arn't working!!!!!!!!!! I neeed sum1 to guide to getting my box back up given the information i've gaven u. and if you checked out the tutorial, maybe you can understand the problem? Sumone, plzzzzz help me, i need my box back. write back ASAP. thanks

come on guys, HELP ME!! look, i found out something else. When you use HD_Driver, it creates an image of your xbox drive, the original, being somewhere around 8gigs. Ok, moving on, i have found out that the software *converts* the drive image to a .BIN file. step two. 5 downloaded Magic ISO, made an iso of the C and E drive i have backed up on my computer, then from the same software, converted the ISO to a BIN. ok step three, im figuring that since the drive was converted to a bin, i can load it from HD_Driver. Ok , it found the .BIN file I made on my own, leadin 4.75gb. I press restore and it restores it. After thats done, i restart my computer then go into DOS and relock it, then i load it up and still get the error. but instead of error 13. now im getting error 7 and 9, 7 meaning that the drive took to long to load and 9 being that certain files or watever are missing, i think , look it up. any way, i have the bin file of the C and E drive. its not a full xbox drive image as the xbox hold 8gigs, but instead MY .bin is 4.75gigs. i just re put the image on my drive and im going to lock it up and try it again. if it doesnt work i'll be right back on here. PLZ SOMEBODY HELP!! I'll do anything in return!!

Ok man I am about to get a soft mod but heres my question, why do you need a bigger HD? The 8 or 10 gig that comes with the xbox should be good enough as long as your wise with what games your backing up, and how the hell would windows XP be deleted off ur computer cuz of the xbox... its called a VIRUS
My advise: Put the stock HD back into the xbox.

you really can't do much with a 10GB hdd, some xbox games can go anywhere from 1-6GB. anyway his comp was deleted b/c i think he reformatted his computer drives? i really dont know whats going on but there are lots of OEM xbox drives on ebay maybe u could just buy that and put it in ur xbox?>

Well i just bought an xbox on Ebay and beleive it or not the seller turned out to live pretty much in the same development, so tommarow im picking it up. i also bought a memory card, and a 160GB MAXTOR hard drive (MUHUHAHA). The thing is, i havent even softmodded the xbox (obviously) and i'm even thinking of using TSOP flash. anyway i read all the softmodd stuff which seems pretty easy so i guess when i finish softmodding it and try to install my HDD and fuck it up then i guess i'll pm u lol. but what i wanted to know in my earlier post was how your problem came to be and how you fixed it so i wont make your mistakes. i prolly wont understand but im sure when i start to upgrade my HDD i'll be able to have somthing good to look at for reference. thanks

Well my xbox seems to be v1.6 as my K is 1.00.5838.01 and my D is 1.00.5960.01 i guess this is my only choice. can some point out how i make the xbox hdd that master drive or whatever? also does the xbox dvd drive have to be master and i put the disc in that? i think i have to put the disc in the comp actually rite? I'm following the http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=244043 tutorial which seems to be alot easier than 4chn's.
after i lock my 160GB hdd and copy the old hdd stuff on it i can put it in my xbox and it will work like a normal xbox rite? then i have to softmod it again?

well, i didnt get your ?. your trying to switch harddrives from the box to a bigger one? You asked if you'd be able to copy the contents from your old hdd to the new one. well no, your gonna have to create a partition of the c drive and then format it and it will also create u a E drive and optionally an F. Then after that, yes, you will have to softmod again,THEN you can ftp your old xbx hdd contents to the new one. Hope i helped you a lil. If that wasnt wat u were lookin 4 then write back.MIGHTY
oh and P.S. to tim1210, the tut. u followed IS IN FACT, easier then the one i did. i jus posted that link so you guys could see wat i did. If i woulda found the better tut. i woulda used that method. but hey it worked out cuz i found that same tutorial 3 or 4 dAys later. lol. well thank god 4 the creator of that program. it in fact is handy.
