I am trying copy a dvd and Shrink and Nero says it can't do it. Shrink says its because of cyclic redundancy, of course I don't know what that is and how to deal with it and make a copy of the dvd. This is real emergency. IF you know anytning about the Hustle you know it's ready to Flow. peace

Hello, the entire term is CRC or cyclic redundancy check. When files are moved from point a to point b the sender generates a number based on the number of bytes transferred in the file. The sender also tells the receiver the CRC scheme so the receiver can also generate a CRC and compare it to the one sent with the file. If they do not match, you get a cyclic redundancy error. It usually means the amount of data moved did not reach the destination since the cyclic redundancy check numbers errored or did not match. It is a way to double check to make sure somewhat that the amout of data moved reached its destination. That may not help your problem, but that is what is happening with the cyclic redundancy error. Maybe you are trying too fast of a write.

Hope this helps.

dickeyjay,
Your DVD is prolly scratched or dirty. Try cleaning it. There are some good threads about cleaning discs. If claening it doesn't work try decrypter or get a new version of the DVD and try again.
Good Luck,
HW.

Thanks, I ReAuthored it and kept movin, but I am going to take your advise and check out the cleaning threads. The redundacy was only 1m and 29ms into the movie. Peace
I am off to learn how to clean lol

And now for you Hercules.... Thank you some much for that class on the method of how dvds record...believe it are not I did follow along. So the numbers aren't matching...and now I know why they say redundancy its making sure the receiver got it right. Let me know when the next class is... I am going to really look smart at the next Geek conference around the water cooler..... thanks
