Two questions:

Q1: I look through the forums and always see DVD-R and DVD+R. So what is the difference between them? I've been using +R's with no major problems.

Q2: I've also seen people talking about authentic and generic Verbatim's. How do you tell the difference? Is Best Buy a reputable retailer?

Actually it's branded and unbranded (OEM, generic) Verbatims:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817131160 (I use these myself!!!)

Branded is what you see at your local retailer. Unbranded is devoid of graphics on the discs and packaging. Just "Plain Jane" silver discs and a black & white sticker on the cakebox. Same with Taiyo Yuden, except their branded as Sony +R and Fuji +R, etc... The only difference IS the graphics and marketing. The disc is the same. As far as authenticity, that's a whole 'nother story. That's just when it's a planin ol' fake! Best Buy is reputable. You won't run into any "fake" Verbs there. Most of your authenticity issues come into play with shiesty online sites. Stick with NewEgg, Rima, Meritline, and Supermediastore and you'll be fine online... You can also order media from BestBuy online and pick it up at your local store.

Check the first link in my sig. for the -R/+R info...
