What tools do you need again to transfer a downloaded GT4 save state onto your memory card? Ps2 rebuilder? A while back, some guys were talking about a %100 complete GT4 save state and how you can transfer it to your memory card.

Hi. I am following the guide here : http://www.forumcommunity.net/?t=903119&view=getlastpost and I am on step 4. When I open up cdgenPs2 to find my memory card file, I don't get anything. I can't find my memory card file because they are not ps2 files. Can someone please help me out with this guide?

I am stuck here! How do you do this part:

" Open CDGENPS2 and a window browsing your folder. Drag the following files from your folder to CDGENPS2 in the following order; SEE PIC

To fix the lba right click on a file and click edit. Then check the ?fix lba? box and type the lba. The DUMMY file is there as I am only uploading one npo. This will increase the TOC of my disc and prevent the PS2 from screeching when it boots up. Remember the pic below shows an example. You will need to drag your npo file here instead or as many npos as you like. "

Hey h22acrx, I am trying to follow the guide here :http://www.forumcommunity.net/?t=903119&view=getlastpost. This guide supposely allows you to put the save states on a cd and load up with the ps2. I am stuck on step 4, where you are suppose to be able to drag save states onto the disc. I can't open any save states because the only files that are allow to be open are in ".ps2" extension. None of the memory saves are on that extension.

Are we reading the same page vgaddict8? Step 4 says nothing about dragging and dropping.

First, you obviously need a game file. There are 19 of them for GTA:SA for PS2 at gamefaqs.com.

Step 4 says to use PS2 Save Builder. The link provided is bad, but it's the top Google result, so download the latest rev.

Once you have it, open it. Then File -> Open. You can drag and drop actually, but don't - it doesn't open it the same way as File->Open

Now do a File -> Save. Save as an NPort file (*.npo)

Now make the SYSTEM.CNF file. Very easy with Notepad.

The link he has to CDGENPS2 has been updated. If you read the readme, you find that the LBA stuff has changed a little. but it doesn't look too hard. Drag and drop the CNF file you created, the PS2Menu.elf file (in ps2 menu files you unzipped), the npo (you created), and then Edit -> Create Dummy. Set the LBA/size to 30000/5, and check both "fix" checkboxes.

Create an image (IMG button)

Burn a CD

From this point on, you're on your own. I couldn't get it to work, but this might start you off in the right direction. I'm also working with different types of files (rosters for NCAA 06), but hopefully this gets you comfortable with the programs.

rnelsonee, this is the step of part 4 where I have problems " Drag and drop the CNF file you created, the PS2Menu.elf file (in ps2 menu files you unzipped), the npo (you created), and then Edit -> Create Dummy. Set the LBA/size to 30000/5, and check both "fix" checkboxes ". I can't drag and drop any files! If I go to file and open, nothing comes up. If I open up cdgenPs2, on the left side box,under the " cdgenPs2 disc icon" , I have nothing there to drag! This is what I mean when I can't drop and drag anything to the right hand side, under "ISO CDGENPS2". How do you do this?

I am using cdgenps2v2 with gran_turismo_4_d.max save state converted to BASCUS-97328GAMEDATA.npo, and Ps2_Save_Builder_0.8x. Is this right?

The program can change max files into NPOs...

By drag and drop, we mean drag from your desktop, not from within the program window. So put all the right files in a Explorer window on the left (or just put 'em on your desktop), and have the CDGEN window open on the right. Then just drag from the Explorer window into the CDGEN window. Easy (my main computer is now a Mac, so everything is drag 'n drop - I took that step for granted)

Just a normal window showing your files, the dealie you use when you're browsing folders (hit Microsoft Key + E to get it to show up). But now that you have the files on the desktop, you don't need that.

Just open the CDGENPS2 program, and simply drag the files from your desktop into the CDGENPS2's white space on the right (click on the file on your desktop, and while holding down the mouse button, just pull it over the CDGENPS2 window).

It's one of those things you might not have been taught, but you can actaully drag and drop like this with a ton of different programs. But if you don't ever learn it, you never use it (and use stuff like File->Open)

rnelsonee, I got the drop and drag to work, but the image doesn't boot on swap magic cd version 2.00. I burned it once in bin mode and once in iso mode and nothing works. Which mode are you suppose to use?

In cdgenPs2 here's the order of the things I am putting on the disc:

ISOCDGENPS2
SYSTEM.CNF
PS2MENU.ELF
NPO's
NPO's
and
more NPO's

I don't have any dummies at the end. Am I suppose to?

HERE's what it siads on the button of cdgenPS2:

TIME:01:01 TOC: 10218kb/LBA:4449 FILES:14 FOLDERS:1

Could it be my SYSTEM.CNF file?

Here's what I put in it:
BOOT2 = cdrom0:\PS2MENU.ELF;1
VER = 1.10
VMODE = NTSC

I tried to burn on to DVD with DVD decypter and it didn't work. What's wrong?

I actually never got it to work because I was doing this for a friend (I don't have the magic boot thing or any other mods to my PS2), so I can't tell you for sure.

I think you might have a problem with your LBA (it needs to be set by CDGENPS2 - bascially the LBA fixes the blocks of data so they're the right size - only one file needs it's LBA set, and the program figures out the other LBAs for the other files). The link we've been referring to fixes the LBA with the dummy file. Other sites (do a google search) mention a specific LBA number for the .cnf file, and then the other files are 'fixed' once you set the .cnf file, so that might be your problem.

And burn with a .cue file (not .bin), as the .cue makes sure the files go on in the right order.

Um, just read the page we've been talking about this whole time... it's all there....

http://www.forumcommunity.net/?t=903119&view=getlastpost

Drag your files into the CDGENPS2 window
Select the .cnf file
Right click, and set LBA (google search) and check the box to fix it
That's it.

Which files LBA do you need to fix? Also, How did the guy put the dummy file in here: http://www.forumcommunity.net/?t=903119&view=getlastpost (picture with dummy of *30000 LBA-Where did you get dummy file?) rnelsonee, if you look on the third picture going down here http://www.forumcommunity.net/?t=903119&view=getlastpost, you see that his PSMENU.ELF has size of 222240 and his NPO file is size 807732! How the heck did you get that big of sizes? And his TOC is 68 MB's, mine is only like 10 MB.

Yeh!!! I got it to work. rnelsonee, thanks so much for all you help. I wouldn't have figured this out without you help.

After you put you npo's, you need to put a small dummy file at the end. Then you have to right click on the dummy file and click fix LBA and put the new value of " 30000 " for the dummy LBA. Then click "image" to make a bin image and burn with Nero.

For swap magic users, you need to press "square" to special boot this cd when using swap magic cd.

Oh by the way, the F-1 is really cool. Who ever figure this out is a real genius.
