I am new to burning my own DVD's. I have a HP v200i and I am currently backing up all my DVD's. I have the VIDEO_TS files for all my DVDS and I have burned preliminary copies onto Datawrite (DATASAFE) DVR+R media. The quality is very good but there is the occasional stutter in the picture.
I appreciate that price will dicate what you get but what you have found to be the best media avaiable in the UK for under £1.50 each ? cd-rmedia.co.uk offer the datasafe ones, zero defex (Ritek) ones and intenso ones all within my price range. Which ones do you advise me going for ?
I want the media that is going to offer me the best quality movies, will any of the three media I outlined above be able to provide me with top quality copies.
The other media available for between £2.10 and £2.60 are Maxell, TDK and Vertabin. If I want true top quality back ups will I have to go for one of these ?
hi PaulMad, I have your same dvd writer but I am not able to back-up any dvd at all. I am going crazy, I have tried all sorts of softwares and nothing works... can someone PLEASE tell me how i can back up dvd with my HP dvd writer "dvd200e"... PLEASE its very important to me. Thanx to whoever can help me back-up dvd.
From what I have heard - the darker the bottom of the disc, the better quality the media is. That is why TDK, HP etc. are more expensive. Comp USA has TDK media for $2.39 for a +R right now, really good considering they usually cost about 7-10 bucks each!
I have been using DataWrite ones in the first instance just to play around.
I have been having problems with the films occasionaly freezing up when I play them back but a freind has informed me that he had similar problems due to the sticky CD labels.
He suggested trying out your films without CD labels on them, especially thick glossy ones.
I have now tried 10 DataWrite films without CD labels and they all seem perfect.
As I dont own many DVD's I might plump for the HP or TDK ones to guarantee the quality but if I am honest the DateWrite WITHOUT sticky labels seem fine
cri31 - There are some great guides on the forums on how to rip your DVD's, you can also buy some software if you haven't got the time to mess about, I thinbk DVD XCOPY is the best
