Sony DRU-500A installation problem in VAIO PC

I am in shock after I was helping to my friend with installation of new Sony DRU-500A. He's got Sony VAIO PCV-RX370DS machine and we couldn't figure out how to fit DVD burner into PC. The problem is the VAIO's curvy front mask. The opening is not wide enough to let DVD burner's tray to open !
Is there anybody in same situation ? Before we call Sony's tech support we would like to know if there is any retro kit or something.
We can't believe that Sony is making DVD burner not installable into own VAIO machines!!!
