Strange playback of AVI movie

I download a file (the wizard of oz for the kids) and when i played it back on both WMP and Real Player it looked like it had a cinema curtain in front of it, with thin black and white lines going across and it looked sectioned into 5. But in Divx player it was fine, but I want to put it on DVD, and I'm not sure if the finished product will look like the 1st playback attempts or the last.

Has any1 else had this problem
