SM 3.6 Won't Load DVDs

Hello. I just bought a flip top with SM 3.6. The SM CD works fine for emulators I downloaded, however, when I decided to try out a copy of DMC1, it just went to a black screen and stayed there. I burned it once on a KHypermedia DVD-r and then another time on a Sony DVD-R, both at 2x. I also tried to boot it from the CD by refreshing the TOC, but when ever I insert a DVD original it says "Not A Valid PS2 Disk" (it's the original DMC disk and loads perfectly on it's own). Any ideas on what the problem is?
