I recently replaced my original PS2 with the new Slim one. (I actually bought two of them.) The new ones are version 12. I also purchased the Magic Switch Pro and installed it with no problems on each system. Using Swap Magic 3.3 most of my backups will not run on the new PS2s even though they ran fine on my original one (before it broke). Originals play fine, however. I've probably tried 15 backups and a couple did work. Another couple starts to work and then locks up after a few minutes of play. The rest just go to a black screen and never boot up even though the disc keeps spinning and the laser moves up and down the disc. I get the same result on both new systems. I even took the Magic Switch tools A and C out and used tape over the sensors (as I've read many people doing), and still get the same results. This tells me the Magic Switch tools were installed correctly.

For an example of one of the backups I've tried, I'll use MVP Baseball 2005. I backed it up (created iso) using DVD Decrypter and then burned it at 4x on a generic dvd, a memorex dvd and on an imation dvd. I have also used verbatim on different games. I have read some on here about the type of disc you use can affect the new PS2 working or not. I don't know how true this is but I figured after trying 3 different types that one of them should work.

Any thoughts, suggestions or fixes, please?

I wanted to add that I can play backed up movies on both of these PS2s using the same brand of discs.

+R discs are what I've been using. I tried some Sony discs over the weekend and I go one more game to work using them, but that was it. I hate to keep going out and trying more and more brands when I read that other people on here have the same model and there backups mostly work instead of barely working like mine do.

Better media.
Verbatim should work ok though.
Memorex just suck, and Imation are cheap.
I have a V12 and it plays my Philips 8X DVD-R and TDK 4X DVD-R
great. I use +R for movies and they also work great.
But my PSTwo is chipped with a DMS4 Pro
But all the games also work on my V7 with Swap Magic 3.0

Well I'll take your advice Steimy since you have a V12 (although chipped) and try TDK and Phillips -R discs. I've never tried -R discs to date. I'll let you know if it works...Thanks!

update. i used slim kit not magic switch. tools A&B are great, tool C, the one that takes care of the sensor on the mobo is crap. i had to open and tape.

BUT, everything works fine with Swap 3.6 and Verbatim +R's (burned at high speed too).
