>>I've read a lot of the step by step guides on various sites, so please don't just blow me off saying 'go read a guide'.<<

I recently purchased a DVD of a show i liked. It turns out that it's in PAL and i live in America (NTSC), so i want to be able to play it on my home stereo dvd player. I want to keep it as DVD, and many of the online guides are for converting it to vcd..etc.

So far i:
Ripped using SmartRipper (resulted in a vobs and other files)
Converted them to (.d2v and .wav) using Dvd2avi.
Then dropped the new .wav and the .d2v into TMPEG and told it to output 720x480 NTSC.

Well the final video looks good and all, but the audio is no long in sync with it. It's off by a second or so. So what am i doing wrong here? Am i missing a step?
I know that i'm speeding it up by converting it, but i figured TMPEG would also be doing that to the audio too...

Please help me out.
BTW, I don't think this is illegal or anything, saying that i legally bought the DVD but can't play it as is.

Hi,

I know how to convert PAL DVD to NTSC DVD, but it's either too simple or too complicated depending on what equipment you have access to. I'm sure that someone out there knows how to do it with a ball of twine and two bottle caps...(or a computer), but I haven't had anyone who could tell me how, either. :)

If you can borrow it, (or pay a conversion service) all you need is a region free DVD Player (to play PAL DVD) connected to a converter (i.e. Tenlab TR-21 which converts to NTSC format) connected to a DVD recorder. (I used a Pioneer DV 343, Tenlab TR-21 and a Philips DVDR985A)

This process works great for me, but the same process won't duplicate copyprotected NTSC format DVDs. My understanding is that this method works because the Tenlab converter "cleans" the copyprotection as part of the conversion process.

I'm sure this isn't what you were hoping for, but it will get the job done.

Best of luck,

justnuts
