used dvd shrink, saved to iso image, using clonedvd2, i go to burn the dvd and it tells me to insert a recordable media into drive D. i'm using memorex dvd+r. i'm using the same process my friend uses and his works just fine. does anyone know how to solve this problem?

first thing I have to say is memorex or memosux as it's more commonly known is a big no-no that's like a bad word around here.
now that that is out of the way your drive is not recognising your media you might try -r media as it is compatable w/ more burners as well as stand alone players than the +r's
what is your burner make & model if you know it. as there might be a firmware upgrade that you missed.

the firmware idea is probably a good one, though i don't know what to do about it. don't know make and model...have win xp and tryin to use CloneDVD 2

Download DVDinfopro. It will give you make, model and firmware version of your drive. It can also tell you the manufacturer of the blank media you are using. Memorex puts their name on a lot of junk blank media so they actually don't make the stuff.

Switching to a better brand of media may be all thats needed as already suggested.

downloaded dvdinfopro..not sure where to find make and model, firmware revision it says is A123. dont know if MATSHITADVD-RAM LF-D311 is anything. i was wondering what brand of media is the best or what should be used. memorex always works good for me for music. that's why i chose it. but i know you all know a lot more than me..so please help. Thanks for everything so far

I believe it is just like a car your make would be matshita your model would be the LF-D311 #
are you on a mac as most the article's I have found have been on mac user's
dos dvdinfopro tell you it can burn dvd I noticed a mention of it being a combo drive I found a lik to the firmware seems to be a128
there is mention that a flash tool called oddiag tool is the one they got to work success fully I would do a google search for the tool haven't checked it out as I am running late for work tell us how itgoes here's a link to a firmware site you might do a search here http://forum.rpc1.org/
