I'll list them for you too in the order i like them
1. Dvd Decrypter
2. Dvd Shrink
3. Nero burning rom
There are lots of choices to make but either way you choose you should get the same results. Its just your preference

Hi there,
VSO CopyToDVD v3.0 is also a nice piece of software and works very well.
If it's to burn VIDEO_TS directory, the latest version of VSO DivXtoDVD v2.0 has a built in burn engine !
So you get 2 in 1, a video converter to DVD and a burn engine.

My 2 cents...

Well, I'm probably gonna get all type of shit for this, but I use AnyDVD & DVD Shrink to rip to HD, Nero to burn/copy to DVD. I use Super DVD Ripper (But if anyone has a better suggestion, that'd be great. I need something easy on my HD space, though.)to convert to DivX, and either Nerovision or VSO DivXtoDVD to convert from DivX. Let the abuse begin :)

Ah I think I got it, thanks. It finally clicked.
Decrypter + Shrink basically the same, but decrypter for less than 4.36GB and Shrink for greater than?
So, if I just download AnyDVD will I not need dvd decrypter?

Stay away from Roxio!!!! It is complete garbage. I cannot even burn a 36Mb ISO. I have made 2 ISO attemps and 2 failures. I now use DVD Decrypter for ISO burning. Funny how these freeware programs can be so much better than programs that cost $100+.
The must haves are DVD Decrypter and DVDShrink. You can burn just about everything with these two. I would not trust Nero to be too good. I am sure it has a lot of user friendly options and takes up 200megs of RAM like Roxio.
Programs like Roxio are good for Data, maybe music discs and that's about it. When I used to use Nero 5.5 I got many coasters, about 3 for every 1 good burn. Try a Demo before buying if you are interested in something like Nero.

JaguarGod, I started using Nero around 5.something too... and it did suck. I think it's probably because I didn't know what I was doing. It takes a little practice, but give Nero a second try... it's well worth the effort to learn.

@Dkang
U need to use both programs regardless and have AnyDVD running in the background...
First use DVD Decrypter to rip the movie to ur hard drive.
two then creat a sub folder within the folder u just ripped the movie in
Then use DVD Shrink to compress the movie in the subfolder.
and then finally use a Burning program e.g CloneDVD to rip it to disc...
I hope that clears it up...
p.s u can use nero too... just as the final step...

You don't want to run it through clonedvd2 after you've already compressed it with DVD Shrink. Just burn it to disc with DVD Decrypter, Nero, or another burning app.

Nothing, It's one of the better transcoding apps there is but you don't want to run your video folder through two transcoders if you can make it fit the target dvd size useing one transcoder. The more the folder is processed the worse the video quality will be.

If you are using CloneDVD to burn then just use it to encode too, you do not need to use Shrink and do it twice. If your car just went through the car wash, would you send it through again :)

Just open AnyDVD and put your disk in your drive let AnyDVD break the protection. Open CloneDVD and choose either Copy DVD Titles or Clone DVD when the next screen comes up browse to where your disk is located open it and edit out what you do not want or backup the whole disk, and hit the next screen. Here is a guide that shows you, it is very easy.
