I am trying to burn a file on a cd that will let me add to the cd every other week or so can this be done? I am sorry if this is a stupid question but I dont know if or how this can be done. By the way I have a soney cdrw cdx 140E with sony extreme for burning. I also have Nero and easy cd creator.

It depends. If you are doing data, you could use software like Nero to do what is called a Multi Session CD. I am pretty sure that the header (which on CDR can only be recorded once) contains the information for Audio and Video CDs, like which tracks are where, etc and that will make it not possible to do this for that kind of CD.

Please note that each additional session (= each time you write files on the CD leaving the disk open) wastes about 30 MB of space, so you will not be able to repeat the 'multisession trick' many times.
