I thought that TY were made in Taiwan. I am seeing the same thing here at Best Buy - Fuji from both Taiwan and Japan, with identical labels. The Japan are the good ones?

You can't go wrong with the Made In Japan Media. By the way Staples has on Sale this week, 50 packs of Fuji CD-Rs, colored ones for $8.94 + tax.I personally saw these, most all were Made in Japan.
Taiyo-Yuden. High Quality!
Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

It's on the outside of the packaging, not on the disk itself. In small print along with the ten paragraphs of other small print. :-)

The Japanese ones are supposed to be better.
But I have no way to personally compare the quality of any disk after burning.
There is testing software of various sorts, but I'm told that
a) the results vary with the software and the drive, so you could test the same disk on two systems and get two different results;
and b) none of it is written for the Mac anyway, so it may as well be on the moon as far as what good it will do me. Oh well.

No Taiyo Yudens are made in Taiwan. They are only made in Japan.
When evolution selects its agents, it does so at a cost, makes demands in exchange for singularity, and you may be asked to do something against your very nature. This force, evolution, is not sentimental. Like the Earth itself, it knows only the hard facts of life's struggle with death. All you can do is hope and trust that when you have served its needs faithfully, there may still remain some glimmer of the life you once knew.
