well im trying to do the old "classic" encoding avi to vcd with virtualdeb, sub2ssa and TMPGEnc.
but the subs are in strange format and after i change them to ssa in sub2ssa i can't load the subs into the movie i encod in virtualdeb, it just doesnt show...and the ssa subs won't load in bsplayer either.
is there anyway i can overcome this? maybe a way to encod the subs to normal srt and then 2 ssa?
plz help
Hi there... people here are willing to help but please try to be polite at least. I know how frustrating it could be when you have problems, but let's try to be cool while in these forums, ok?
Now, back to your point, let's do it step by step
1) convert subtitles to Subrip format(*.srt) using Subtitle Workshop (this powerful tool allows you to synchronize your butitles with the movie and to convert many different formats to Subrip format)
2) The *.srt file recently created with Subtitle Workshop convert it to a bitmap stream using SRT2SUP (SRT2SUP converts your subtitles to a 4 color coded bitmap stream, which can be multiplexed with the DVD's video and audio streams)
3) Convert the AVI to MPEG-2 using the encoder of your choice
4) Use an authoring tool such as IFOEdit (if u don't want menus but only subs) or DVDLabPro (if you want menus, different audio streams and subtitle selection)
Final word, if you have a problem with subtitles color I'll let you know which other tool to help that...
but please try next time to avoid cursing, I dunno if it's against forum rules but it sure does not make people more willing to help, okey dokey?
I give you another piece of advice. If after using SRT2SUP and compiling your movie and finding out that subtitle colors do not match to the ones you had in mind (it happened to me that all subs gone green), you check this with a PC player or burning on a DVDRW, you need to do another step by running Subremap
Quote:a post-processing tool for Srt2Sup. It is primarily used for people that want to mix SUP subtitles with original subtitles from a DVD and want to change the colour pallet mapping used in the SUP file. Or those people that want a simpler way of editing the colours in an IFO file.
People have wanted to add their own subtitles to movies that already have subtitles. When this is the case the original subtitles would want to use colours 0, 1, 2 & 3 and so did the SUP file created by Srt2Sup. This became a problem if say the original subtitles wanted colour 0 = white and Srt2Sup wanted colour 0 = black!
