I'm new to the PS2 back up process. I have backed up a few games by simply copying the disc using either Nero or Alcohol 120%. I have two questions. Is the process I have previously used the best method? All of my archived files show a RED screen when I use the Swap disc.
But more importantly, I have some files of type we8.001, we8.002, etc. I have uncompressed them using WinRar. it gives me an .iso file. I thought that I should simply burn that using Nero or Alcohol 120%. Both were unsuccessful. It also uncompressed some more .r01, .r30 files. I tried to couple those with the .iso file(more failure). I am at my witts end. I would greatly appreciate assistance. Oh yeah I also have some files( same type .001, .002) with out the .iso. I have no idea about what to do with the set that has no .iso file. I know this is a lot of information that I am asking for, I am patient. Any assistance possible would help. I tired of making 30 minute coasters!
Thanks.

Hi
The best programme in my opinion for backingup ps2 games is DVD Decrypter you can get it in the software section of this site, there are also a load of advise on this forum on how to use it, its very easy.
You only need to burn the iso in the files you have unrared nothing else, if you have DVD Decrypter installed first double click on the iso and it will start the programme for you. Burn on good media and at no more than x4 speed. What are the games you are trying and what version of swap magic are you using?
Let me know how you get on

I sort of understand what you're talking about. It seems as if you downloaded something, when you talk about the .001 .002 rar files. Maybe the download was corrupt or you could try clicking on all of them until you find the iso.

If you can't find the iso's then just forget about it. I saw you other post on this same topic. Don't let one thing bug you so much.

In order to make it easier to download and share. A movie , game , program or whatever is broken up into smaler pieces. For example a 500 mb file in one piece will take a LONG while to DL.Until you Down Load the 500 mb file you can not share it with others. If you keep losing the connection , you may never DL it. Using WinRAR , that same file is broken into [ or disasembled ]50 0r 100 10 or 5 mb pieces. This disassembling allows the downloader to DL pieces and after dowloading that piece to share those pieces with others.WinRAR is a means to an end. Those .001 .002 rar files are just a tool. After downloading them you need to use WinRAR to reassemble the flles back into their original form. It can be an .iso file or a .bin and .cue file or even .VOB and .bup file`s if it is a DVD movie. It all depends on what is being DL`ed and the person who packaged the file.

Thanks for all the help, but... some of the files that were downloaded were .001 files not rar files. I saw that I should reassemble them with WinRAR. I will try that out and see what happens. I will get back to you guys shortly.

sometimes the .001,.002 files are rar files. Have you tried extracting the first numbered file with WinRAR?
Do not extract them all, just the first one.
