Is this the only time this happens? No, I've never experienced this with Shrink. Does it give you an erro message, if so, what is it?

Could be a heat issue. Do you have adequate ventilation?

Encoding is very cpu demanding and builds a lot of heat. Thats why I mentioned it.

Pull up and run the task manager while running Shrink. That way you can keep an eye on the system resources. See if there are any abnormal problems with memory and CPU usage. That may give you a hint.
Mort is correct about transcoding video. It's very CPU intensive. Doing a video with Shrink will heat up a processor more than running it all day doing most tasks. You'd be surprised how much dust can collect in a case if not cleaned periodically. Also, if there is a smoker in the area, the smoke residue sticks the dust to the interior of a PC requiring serious cleaning over a period of time. There are other factors, such as, is the fan functioning properly? Then you can have overheating due to component malfunctions. So, ventilation and cooling can be a factor. Whatever the problem, it seems Shrink is most likely supplying the additional load on the sytem to trigger the shutdown of the system, making it reboot. Sounds more like a system malfunction than the software.
Back to the specs, you have a 2.6 GHz AMD CPU. Okay, how about the rest of the important resources. RAM type and amount, how much of the RAM is free (not already allotted to programs on the system besides Shrink), hard drive and free space available, operating system, and how often do you do your routine cleanup of the system (defrag and disk cleanup included)? All this has to be taken into account when talking about specs, not just the processor speed. If the PC doesn't have the resources free, then when it is loaded with a CPU intensive program like Shrink, it will fail.

Even if not the problem, routine maintenance is required to keep PCs functioning properly. On occasion I've been known to take care of mine. ;D

Hi,
I have experienced a similar problem. Turned out to be a driver conflict. If an error code is generated, check microsoft's datatbase.
If this only happens in Shrink, I would think that something is running at the same time, that is causing your system to reboot. There may be a device error as well. What software, hardware have you installed since you installed Shrink?

Thanks for interjecting the info on the interference problem you had with a driver. It is always helpful to name the driver just so people will know what to look for. There are a lot of drivers involved with PC operations.

Glad you got it going and it was one of those problems not too difficult to take care of. A good clean up routine once a week can go a long way toward keeping things working properly. Normally a defrag isn't needed that often, but remember it may need doing on occasion as was the case here. Happy burning... and "You're Welcome".
