Here is a C/P of a problem I sent DVD Cloner 2. Has anyone got any ideas on it. I have always had great results with it since last fall. Now I got a problem

I changed out my Bad burner which was a Sony 710A to a Plextor 716A
When burning at 16 X Verbatim it will now complete in about 6 minutes with 4.3G.
With my old burner DVD 2.350 would almost always complete decodeing at 20 minutes.
Now with the Plextor 716A it takes almost an hour to decode. I have tried several movies and get the same results. I took those same movies and did them on an older computer and 2.350 decodes them at 20 minutes.
My IDE Controller is set to Auto Detect at Ultra DMA Mode 4. It was never at PIO.
I downloaded the newest firmware for the Plextor dated a 6-15-2005.
I have defraged and ran checkdisc
Here is some history I have found with your versions.
2.350 seems to work the best. When I upgraded to 2.4 I saw this slow burn time and read rate with my sony burner. You told me to go back to the 2.350. I did. then came out 2.5. It will not playback on alot of players. You sent me a rebuild 2.5832. It played on all players that 2.350 does.
Next I upgraded to the Plextor and now I have this big slow down. I uninstalled the 2.4 thinking it might could cause the problem. I reinstalled the 2.35 thinking that may help. I know the most common problem is the IDE setting but mine is right...I think.
My driver version in MS 5.1.2535.0 7-1-2001
I installed the Plextor tools that came with the burner. I can not find a place in the program that allows a set point for read rate.
I uninstalled the Plextor tools and restored the computer to a date before I put the drive in. Please help..what is my next move. Please ask one of the enginears if you dont know. I would like to have the 20 minutes of read time and compression back to normal. Has anyone else had this problem. I know it is not the movie because the old computer still does them in 20. Also, the problem is only durning the compression. I can take a movie that I have already backed up and it will read it back and burn it in a flash. Thanks very much.

I know DVD Decrypter has an option to enable speed read using Plextor drives. I've read before that Plextors have some kind of lock on the read speed. http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=78680 is the best thing I could find out about it, someone mentions holding the eject button for a few seconds?? Anyway, try that, if it doesn't work maybe try to rip the movie with DVD Decrypter with this option enabled, then use DVD Cloner to compress.

Hopefully that helps a bit.

Can you believe this..I got my problems with the drive worked out. I put my Sony back in (Dru-720A) as Master and the Plextor as slave. Important part was running Windows update and getting service Pack 2 on my machine. That cleared up my problem with not being to loose the PIO Mode. Did not get the plextor to read faster. However, I did get it where I read with the Sony and burn with the plextor. If you dont have service Pack 2 you need to get it!!!
Thanks
