I have recently installed WinTV2000 and have some large files of Glastonbury 2005 that I have copied from my Sky Plus around the 9gig area, I thought I would be able to put them through DVD Shrink but it can?t see them or can?t open them? They are mpegs files; doesn?t DVD Shrink support these files? I?m a bit thick, any I ideas?

No. DVD Shrink won't handle mpeg files. You'll need to author the mpeg files to DVD compliant files with something like TMPGEnc Author.

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd-r_tools/tmpg...

After the authoring program creates the DVD folders and files on your hard drive you can use DVD Shrink to open the files and shrink the video to fit on a DVD if necessary. DVD Shrink makes that part very easy.

Once that is done use your burning software to burn to disc. If you have Nero you can set up DVD Shrink to use it automatically.

In your case, with 9 gig files, that's a bit big (4.3 gig to a single layer DVD) and would require substantial shrinking which will diminish the quality. I would recommend using the Re-Author mode in Shrink then click on the icon that shows 2 arrows pointing left and right. This will let you set start and stop points so you could burn half the file on 1 disk, then the second half on another disk. Once the compression required in DVD Shrink starts getting below 75% or so I think it's best to split onto 2 disks.

Also, with a very large file I believe TMPGEnc Author will warn you that you have a non-compliant DVD. Don't worry about that. Hit ignore. You'll end up with DVD files that are now too large to burn directly, but that's where DVD Shrink comes in.

Good Luck
