I came across an ad I guess for USB Extreme, I had no idea that you could copy games to a hard drive and use it to store your games. I just wish I had known sooner! I already took the first step and bought a USB hard drive case and ended up here while searching for how well my hard drive will hold how many games. It seems after reading your forums that I acted too early.
1) Am I correct in thinking (from what I have read so far) that since I have the older PS2 I should use the network adapter and don't need an enclosure case? (Not really sure what a network adapter looks like or does, but knew we weren't too interested in letting our boys play online games so we didn't bother with it before.) Is the network adapter needed to use the HD or is that just for playing online?
2) Will the network adapter somehow hook up to my pc to copy games to? (I don't plan on opening my computer and thought the USB port to be handy when I saw an enclosure case.) ...OR... Once I've gotten the network adapter, the hard drive, and the HD Loader discs, can then it all be done (formatting the hd and copying the games to the hd) on the PS2 itself?
3) The hard drive I had planned on using was one left over from when my computer was updated - a Western Digital. I've seen some here say that they aren't very good. Has anyone had any luck with them?
4) What sizes are most games? They play mostly kids games - Spider-Man, Pokemon, Rayman, stuff like that. Just curious as to what size I should get seeing that I will probably get a new one. I know the bigger the better but we can't afford too much right now- maybe $100? Plus we don't want to spend too much on something we've never done before. (Then maybe further down the line when we get the hang of this we'll get another one.)
Thanks in advance,
