Hi,

I bought Swap Magic 3.6 yesterday and tried it out on a game I backed up, It worked fine (Fast loading, perfect graphics and no skipping etc). Then I turned the PS2 off and when I came back to it a couple of mins later, It wouldn't work at all...Swap magic loaded up fine, I swapped discs to the backup and the screen went black and stayed black (on other attempts it goes back to either "no data" or "Insert a valid playstation 2 or playstation format disc". I backed up another copy of a different game to try to attempt 2 fixes at once (bad burn, or game incompatability). It did the same, Worked fine first try, then i turned the ps2 off and tried again and nothing happened.

Also, The laser sounds like it maybe having trouble reading (the disc speeds up, then slows, then speeds, then slows. But it does this when it works aswell when it boots up. My ps2 is pretty new so it can't be that.

Im using:

DVD Decrypter to make the ISO
DVD Decrypter to burn the ISO (First attempt i used Alcohol 120%)
(I burned at 2x both times.)
I'm Using GIGATAIN DVD-R's 4.7gb
My PS2 is (hang on let me check) ... SCPH 70003 CB (Slimline)


If I wait about 10-20 minutes after trying, the games sometimes work, but not always, the problem still occurs if try the games alternately. Can you please help me. I don't want to have to wait forever just to play games.

buy good DVD+R then they work better if you use tdk +r's it will work perfect

Ok thanks for the help, at least (i hope) you've guided me to the problem...crappy media. :D Are you sure Tdk +r's are a good idea, i've heard bad things about them, whats the best brand and type to use that you guys have had a-class results with?


P.S. - Has anyone else had my problem? If so, which media fixed it?

hi
i am new to swap magic and backing up ps2 games and i am having the same problem goes to a black screen and then mybe after 20 mins the logo of the game will come on 'EURO 2004'

i am wasting media so much lol.

i back up games using dvd decriptor doin it the way every1 els does read iso burn iso

i am using rli cheapo DVD-R i think they are called bulkpaq.

rli need help i am burning them at 2x which should be fine.......

Again, use PROPER media. Tayo Yuden or Verbatim, wether you use DVD-R or DVD+R is up to you, and your ps2's preference. Some older ps2's can't read dvd+, or dislike them severely. Burning speeds can vary between 1X to 4X, depending on your dvd writer. That's just a trial and error thing, certain drives write better at 2X, others at 1X, etc. etc.

you have to reload swapmagic EVERY time you turn on your playstation if you want to play a backup. Not sure if you knew this...

thanks for the help Daniel_G i will give it a go i have also noticed that when i backup dvd's some of them will skip on the ps2 but are sweet on a dvd player so i dont think my ps2 likes my shity media.

i will let u know how i go on.
