can anyone help. I've followed the walk through and calculated the bitrate, but the avi still comes out too large for 2 disks. What am I doing wrong?

Happened to me to with the first DIVX I created [Star Trek-First Contact...just thought you wanted to know ;-)].

The problem I encountered was that I used the unextracted sound! I used CDex to convert the sound but I forgot where I put the compressed file. You can look this up in CDex --> Options --> Settings --> Filenames. Just check or change the directory where it puts the compressed files in and use the compressed file for your DivX...

Should work now!

Hey cool thanks. You know I read the part in the walk through that said to be sure to change the directory where cdex creates the output files.I never did it because I didn't understand it. All I saw were a bunch of things like this ( %1/%2/ ) and so on. I looked at the screen and didn't know what field to change. Is it the recorded tracks field?
I'll try that this evening and let you know how I make out. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. It makes sense now though because that would have been the one thing I didn't change.

Thank you so much for your help. You were spot on. The wave files were going to a default folder in cdex called my music. What a dope. Oh well, thanks again. I would never have caught that.

Hey, no thanks needed! Like I said, I had the same problem. You're right that it's a bit blurry in the guide.

Good luck ripping!

hey I rip and encode with dvd::rip and my files are about 1.2-1.3G unsplit. But splitting will easily fit on 2 cd's. Dvd::rip has all the encoding options on one page (video and audio).
