How to re-encode movies while keeping intact menus

I would like to re-encode my first dvd project because I now have a better encoder than before, but I would like to keep the very same menus.

How can I re-encode the movies, replace them and keep menu functionality intact? That is same menus & new (reenoded) movies

If this DVD Project that you want to re-encode is a DVD that you Created then you should not re-encode it because you will just Lower the Quality ....

Re-Compressing an allready Compressed File will Just Lower the Quality No Matter how Good of an encoder you have so the Re-encoded DVD Project will Look worse than the Source DVD.....

perhaps I didn't make myself clear... I've got the original AVI files from which I later on encoded and made my project with DVDLab Pro.

I made quite good menus and backgrounds which I'd like to keep, the only thing I would like to do is re-encode my AVI's and use them with the old menus.

In other words replace movie A with a new movie A with the same menu.

Then I would have a replica of my old disc but with new encoded movies! My old movies had a bitrate of over 9000 bps!!!

OK...I see..

Well what you would Do I guess is encode the AVI file again useing the encoder you want to use (Tmpgenc, MainConcept,CCE and Procoder are the Best quality encoders you can Get) and after encodeing it You can use a DVD Ripper to Rip the Menu"s from your DVD and then Import them into DVDLab and add your Links and Chapters and author the DVD....

Or if you Created the Menu"s Originally in DVDLab then you can Just re-create them again so you don"t have to use the Menu"s from the DVD....This would actually be better because the Objects and Buttons from the DVD will be Part of the Menu and Not seperate Objects so it will be Harder to add Links to the Object and Buttons on the Menu....

This shouldn"t be Verry Hard as I basicly did the same thing while I was writeing this Post so I can see how it would be Done....

Two things...

1) I do not have the original *.dal files from the project, deleted them stupidly, therefore I lack of the original menus. The ones at the disc are the ones I'd like to use

2) I should rip the entire disc to the HD with DVDDecrypter for instance in File mode, then open DVDLab Pro and open the resulting VOBs? How about the menus? Will the menu structure appear on the project? Aren't menus supposed to be kept in IFO files??? I'm a bit lost here... sorry

The Menu"s are generally in the First VOB file ,The IFO file just has Chapter and Timecode Information......

Just Rip the First VOB file and look at it so see if it contians the Menu"s.....

Great... so IŽll open VOB_1 and see if I have the menus there. Then IŽll re-encode all again and use those menus.

Yes ,the VOB file the Menu"s in it is usually a Very Small VOB file depending on the Menu"s but most Still menu"s will be Very Small....

If these are Still Menu"s then you might want to convert each menu into a BMP or JPG Image file and then Import each menu seperatly into your DVD authoring Program.....

if you Look in the Video_TS you should Find some VOB"s that are Way less than 1gb....
