PS2 modifications to allow booting up of backed up DVDs

Hello all,

We have got a brand new PS2 and the kids have already scratched 2 DVDs.

From what I have read there is no way to use any backup CDs or DVDs on a PS2 unless there is a mod chip inside? I have looked at the mod chips site somewhere and it seems it is hard work to connect/solder all those 40+ wires inside. Is there an alternative way?

Buy swap magic 3.6 and magic switch pro. No modification needed and you are able to play backups.
