can use the dvd shrink to resize dvd but my burner will not accept that there is a dvdr disc in it although if i put cdr in it knows its there any ideas

Did you try different media? Also you could try different burning software. If you're using Windows XP then you could try to burn directlly from Windows Explorer.

Do you have the right format blanks for your drive. Some only take +R blanks, some only -R blanks and most of the newer ones will burn either. Just a wild guess. If you have the right blanks then look for a firmware update for your drive.
