Alright. I have spent the past few days, literally, days, trying to figure this out. i will start from the beginning.

what I did in the order i did it:

- Downloaded a XviD file off of the internet (PAL)
- RAR'd id to the .AVI File
- Dropped it into FFmpegX for MAC
- Selected output form DVD (ffmpegX) - as described on the software's webiste
- left it alone for a while, came back, and it had been encoded (PAL)
- I was thrilled when I was left with Audio and Video_TS folders
- Burned a DVD+R and a DVD-R with Toast
Toast Settings:
- Data DVD ROM UDF
- with DIsc Title, and respective TS Folders
- Burn Speed was OK

The resulting DVD will play with my apple DVD player just fine. When i use my Pioneer DV-525, which has worked jsut fine in the past with different forms of burnt media, including DVD+R, the image is black and white and looks like it has a "tracking" problem (hah back the VHS days, tracking)

Does anyone know what could be at fault here, or what I should try different?? Could it be a case where my dvd player will only play NTSC, if that is it then why would it "half-ass" play my movie??

Thanks and I hope someone has some light to shed.

Please respond or email me.

THANKS

piratcy is wrong, and you shouldn't do it. i think that it is that you are trying to play a NTSC on PAL player and vise versa.

Thankyou for the moral lessons. i agree with you, this is a video enocded from a friend of mine that lives across the pond.

I think that you are right also about the encoding. I just re encoded it for NTSC dvd, it should be done, well, in about 10 hours or so, then i will proceed with toast and give it a shot. As long as it is encoded with the correct "regional" format, it should work, correct?

Thanks.
