burn video files AVI - mpeg on a dvd ?

please help im a new b ...

how can I burn my video files like AVI and mpeg on a dvd with my new burner so i can play it on my dvd player ?
I have Nero software that came with my burner please help this new b ... thanks adv :)

convert the files into VOB files using winavi or dvdsanta or something similar there are loads.
then use Nero to burn to disc.
