i've just bought some bulkpaq 8x dvd-r's when i try to burn in my lite-on dvdrw schw-1673s using nero 6 oem it gives me max burn speed, 8x, 6x and 4x i've tried all these and just get illegal disc message. i've also tried on my lite-on dvdrw ldw-811s this doesn't give any speed options just 1x and this isn't highlighted this gave me a fixation error is it the media or my drives. i usually use zero defex disc's without error and prefer to burn at 2x.
wow...bulkpaq media...i can already see creaky shuddering due to this...NOT good media to say the very least, im SURE he will elaborate when he sees this... :)
regarding your lite-on burner...is the firmware up to date? that would be my 1st suggestion besides USING A DIFFERENT media brand...may i suggest genuine Taiyo Yudens or Verbatims for starters...
it's often times difficult for burners to recognize crap media...sorry, i just had to give it to you straight...your lite-ons are GOOD drives...it's the media that is the problem~ :) good luck.
Taiyo Yuden 4x dvd-r TYGO1/ 8x dvd-r TYGO2/ 8x dvd+r YUDEN000T02/ 16x dvd+r YUDEN000T03
Verbatim 8x dvd+r MCC003
Verbatim dvd+r DL (MKM001)= flawless no compression backups

Please tell me they're not Bulkpaq Orange discs. The ones i had were fake Taiyo Yuden coded (TYG02). At least you're lucky, you're getting errors, so you've had some warning of their crapness. I myself used untold 100s of these things with virtually no burn errors/problems in Nero, only to find later that they were fake media and atrocious quality at that. Most of them are uncopyable/unplayable/skip&freeze at best upon playback.
Please look at both links in my signature - i started the thread in the 1st link due to a Bulkpaq disc that i couldn't copy The 2nd link has more detail about Bulkpaq and other crap media.
As kivory666 asked, is your firmware up to date ?. what we can do here is check your Nero log, well the LAST section of it anyway. it's in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log, but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar. The log may well show up some other stuff to tweak, such as conflicting drivers, out of date Nero etc etc.. post that and will have a look for you..
there not bulkpaq orange but obviously still rubbish, where is the best place to get the latest firmware updates. don't know which sites to trust for best update. thanx for your input a lesson has been learned.
