a similar feature that is pretty standard at other forums.
I'd like to see the posts marked, that I have a reply to. Sometimes it's very hard to keep up with the posts that I've replied to. Especially when they've advanced a page or two. Can't always remember the headings. I looked an hour one night, trying to find a post that I had some replys in. I finally found it, but sure wasted a lot of time. It sure would make life a lot easier, if the posts were marked.

Would also help if it was marked to show if the forum has had new posts, since my last visit. I hope you understand what I'm talking about? It seems to be built in to the software at other forums. Maybe this software doesn't have these capabilities?

I'm not really complaining. I just think it would help us out a lot, to turn on these features, if they're in the software. If they aren't, don't worry about it. I'll still like the site, anyway! :o)
I've learned a good bit here, so I'm not going anywhere!
Thanks for listening............

Ok, where to begin....

Every time you reply to a thread, there's an option to "subscribe" to that thread, which will give you a tiny 1KB notice in your email that the thread has updated. And no you don't get an email for each reply to one thread, just once after each visit to the forum(something like that).
And then you can also access the list of subscribed threads in the "My Account" section(tab at the top of the page). And as also stated, you can see a list of all your posts using the link in the my account page.

There's a handy link at the top of the page that tells you:List of Updated threads. Click it and you'll see all updated threads during the last 24 hours.

Hope this has been a useful bit of info.

Almost forgot,
Almost all other forum software is commercially available. This forum is done from scratch, with dRD doing the coding himself.

Ok.......... Thanks for the info. I'll be checking them out.
dRD has done a great job with this software. As I said, I'm not complaining. I'm just used to the other, and I'm a creature of habit, and change comes hard sometimes..................
I don't like to subscribe to threads. I get TOO MUCH email already! :o)

All you get in your inbox is a message that Name of thread has be udated and a link to the actual thread. Its the easiest way to keep track of them. Below the thread link is an unsubscribe link if you later want out of that thread.

Wasn't aware that the forum software was not commercially available (good job dRD.

Having said that, as a variation to what JVC wanted to know, is it possible to know "where" in a particular thread the new info begins? For example, in the Friday Funnies thread, there are 22-23 pages. When I click on that thread, it starts everytime at the 1st. post. In some of the other forums I visit, there is a place to click at the start of the thread something to the effect of "last post read". I click on that and it takes me to where I left off the last time I read the thread. This may not be possible in a non-commercial product, but was just curious. Thanks.

If you open a thread and it starts at the first page(oldest post) then just click the LAST PAGE and check the posts. Each one is dated and shows time posted. Shouldn't be too hard to remember where you were at last time on that thread.

@jerry746

You're right. I have been spoiled on other forums (particularly my basketball officials one) and I was being lazy.

If you click the link in the email notification when a thread updates, it should take you to the first post since your last email notification.

i think the email notification works real well. luckily i pick them up through my works email account, and not something like hotmail, which deals with email real badly, well multiple emails badly anyway.

the email notification is excellent. just wondered if this was possible:

instead of having 40 messages in my inbox from 5 different threads, you get one email from each thread once you subscribe to it. then it can tell you how many times it has been updated since you last checked your email. do you understand. so you have your (Example) 'ipod' thread which you subscribrd to in an email. then next time you check it it says it has been updated (example)6 times. man i no it sounds stupid but it sure would save a cluttered email. does anyone have a more logical suggestion on how you can check the threads updates without having your email inbox full. thanks ! :D :D
