Hi,

Recently the DVD-RW disks I have burned have been wrecked. By this I mean I cannot erase them any more. Nero says "The disc is not rewritable and therefore cannot be erased". Other apps just say theres an error with the disc. I suspect that AnyDVD had something to do with it but not sure.

Anyway, the question is, what can I do to 'repair' these disks. Surely they cant become read only. Is there some brute force formatter that might work?

TIA

Tony

This has happened to several of my RW discs. I don't think it has anything to do with your software. I had both a HP DVD-RW and just recently a Imation DVD-RW do the exact same thing. Its the discs themselves going bad. The Imation was only 3 months old and had been over written about 10 times. I e-mailed them and they sent out a replacement (lifetime warranty) and I sent back the bad one. They didn't argue about it being bad so it must be a common problem. I tried 4 or 5 different ways to fix the old one but none worked. Replace the disc, its dead.

Since AnyDVD only removes protection schemes and region codes and neither encodes nor burns, it can't affect your blank discs. As said before by Jerry746, just "discs going bad".
