Overwhelming Audio Sync Problems

Yes i've read and read and tried different guides.....but this audio thing is whipping my @$$

So after downloading every piece of software imaginable and managing to get to the point where i can join avi's, encode, and get them to burn i take my DVD to the DVD player and get an ok picture and horrible audio which is also completly out of sync.

Now i've been sticking to the basic software and trying not to go software crazy with all the different options.

What i do is us AVICODEC to see what type of info is in the AVI (Why i'm not sure....just read it in a guide) Here's what i get:

File:1012 MB (1012 MB),duration: 1:45:53,type: AVI,1 audio stream(s),quality: 33 %

Video : 430 MB, 568 Kbps, 14.985 fps, 352*240 (4:3), MP43 = MS MPEG4 V3, Supported

Audio : 581 MB, 768 Kbps, 24000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x1 = PCM, Supported

I then take the AVI and us DIVX TO DVD CONVERTOR to convert.

After that process i've used Nero to burn and i've also tried the "Copy2DVD" option included with DIVX TO DVD CONVERTOR. In DivxtoDVD i've set the aspect to automatic and the standard to automatic

I continue to get out of sync audio once i burn. It plays fine in AVI format on my computer.

Is there a process that i'm missing? Is this an unfixable problem?

Is there something about the audio from the start that prevents me from keeping the audio in sync?

I would appreciate the help. Thanks
