I had a AIW radeon 32MB (7200 chipset) capture card with video in/out RCA and S-VHS from its first release bought before 3-4 years for something like today 600US$.Now it costs ~100$ if new!!! Peoples that buy the PC today must be very happy if they look at past years
prices or not? Ehh..this is the life.
Now let's talk. I have a capturing quality problem. I know how to capture, convert NTSC-PAL-NTSC from tape to tape or DVD.I had already done several DVDs from tapes or DVD re-authoring thanks to afterdawn guides and men like Minion who are like a WELL of knowledge. I have no problem with quality if I use original tapes from camcorders no matter their format VHS,VHS-c,8mm,HI8mm,D8mm,MniDV etc or good quality ones. Only if a VHS has been edited several times from copy to another copy and so on I will get an noticeable quality loss even in high setting using mpeg2 with 720/576 and 8mb/s bit rate. I was thinking that even the tape plays normally in TV this quality loss while digitizing is acceptable but for my surprise the same tape was transferred into DVD by a friend using a stand alone DVD recorder without almost no quality loss or much better that I did?!!
I was already going after Ati's new models like AIW X800 or AIW 2006 edition but now I am between them and a good one stand alone international DVD recorders like Pioneer,Panasonic etc. I had already looked at Canopus MpegPro but besides it's pricey it also does not have a DV input and I will be forced also to buy a new video card , a good one as I am a gamer also. Any recommendation is appreciated before spending and be sorry later.
